I move on from there doing various other positions (Substance Abuse Counselor, Intake coordinator, Residential Coordinator, Counselor, Group Counselor to name a few). I continue enjoy the experience of seeing people of this Community, here in San Mateo County, grow, learn, express themselves and become more lively through social interaction rather than isolation”

“I want to help people to be in their wellness. I think encouraging people to find what keeps them well is essential. I have been with Heart and Soul as a participant, volunteer and now in my newest role. I became a participant in 2015 needed help in socializing with other people. I remember thinking “wow it seems like people have a lot of fun here.” I am so happy I stayed. I enjoy having fun with others in the organization because I think it’s important to enjoy the happy moments in our work. I am loving how Heart and Soul is having a positive impact in the community because it certainly had a positive impact on me. Now it’s time to pay it forward. “

“Recovery is a journey, not a destination. That is why, self-compassion, patience, acceptance and mindfulness are so important and really help me. Find yourself and your purpose, hope will shine again from the clouds”
